Baltic 39 April 2018
Assembly, is a performative symposium and live event. The project privileges practice and co-actions with material to counteract the tendency of theorists to evolve critical discourse away from the affective qualities of materials. With cross-disciplinary contributions coming from a cultural geographer, art historian, curator, dancer, musicians and fine artists, the hope is to open a space for critical reflection on the material encounter of the photographic object in the wider social and cultural sensorium.
Artist Alexandra Hughes is organising both events for the project ‘Assembly’. Contributors include: Ben Anderson, Dawn Bothwell, Luce Choules, Fiona Crisp, Material Chorus (Ditte Goard), Carol Mavor, Tim Rubidge and James Watts
For the symposium, artist Luce Choules is presenting the performance lecture:
A Journey Through Fieldwork
